If PACCAR Davie 4 suddenly shows a "back office" error, or the date inside the program reads 12/31/1969, you are not alone. We have seen this exact problem 11 times in our own support notes, and the fix recorded in those cases is the same one below.
Symptoms
- Davie shows a "back office" error.
- The date at the top of the DAVIE4 window reads 12/31/1969, or does not match today's date.
- Davie may also say "Failed to refresh the update information."
What causes it
In the recorded cases, the Keymaster / digital certificate session had lapsed. Davie uses that certificate session, so when it lapses, Davie shows the back office error and the wrong date.
If your Davie software is due for replacement or you are setting up a fresh laptop, see our PACCAR Davie 4 software page for what we currently offer. If you are also hitting a plain login problem, our easy fix for PACCAR Davie 4 login error covers that separate issue.
Step-by-step fix
- Close DAVIE4.
- Click the Keymaster icon in the Windows task tray and log back in. This renews the digital certificate.
- Reopen Davie and log in.
PACCAR's Davie Self-Help Guide gives the same direction recorded in our notes: if the date at the top of the DAVIE4 window is wrong, close DAVIE and renew the DAVIE certificates.
If that didn't work
No further fix steps were recorded for KF-001 in our notes, so we are not going to guess at extra steps here. If the error stays after you renew the certificate, use the contact form or email on this site and tell us exactly what Davie shows, including whether the date still reads 12/31/1969. That detail helps us sort out what you are seeing.
FAQ
Why does Davie show 12/31/1969?
In our recorded cases, the date inside Davie read 1969 when the Keymaster / digital certificate session had lapsed.
What is Keymaster doing here?
Per the recorded fix, clicking the Keymaster icon in the Windows task tray and logging back in renews the digital certificate, then Davie can be reopened and logged into.
Davie also says "Failed to refresh the update information." Is that the same problem?
That message is listed in our notes as part of the same KF-001 symptoms, alongside the back office error and the 1969 date.
Should I reinstall Davie for this error?
A reinstall is not the recorded fix for KF-001. Try the Keymaster login first.
