A pending Davie update that will not install can leave you stuck at a popup, or unable to log in after the laptop has sat unused for a while. We have logged this as KF-010 eight times. A related, smaller problem — trying to update from a much older version — is covered in its own section at the end.
Symptoms
- A pending update popup appears, but the update fails.
- The update install fails.
- Or you can't log in after long non-use, with an out-of-date install.
What causes it
Our KF-010 notes record the cause in plain terms: an out-of-date or broken install. For the older-version cases (KF-006), PACCAR support is recorded as saying you cannot update from older than 6.12 directly to the latest.
If you end up replacing the setup, the product this post supports is our PACCAR Davie 4 software. If your problem is connecting to the truck rather than updating, see how to fix PACCAR Davie 4 connection error instead — that is a different fix.
Step-by-step fix (KF-010)
- Uninstall Davie.
- Restart.
- Install the latest version from PACCAR/Dealer Services.
- If the new update fails, run a Repair on the current version instead.
Running Windows updates first helped once in our notes. It is listed here because it was recorded, not as a guaranteed step.
If you are updating from a much older version (KF-006)
Per PACCAR support in our notes, you cannot update from older than 6.12 directly to the latest. In the recorded field fix, 2 Bosch drivers were uninstalled and the installation was retried, and it worked.
The PACCAR Davie Self-Help Guide portion of KF-006 also records this for Install_RP1210 / Install_SaveData failures:
- In C:\ProgramData\DAVIE4\Installer, search for RP1210.
- Run "Bosch RP1210 D-PDU-API.msi", uninstall, then do a Complete (not Typical/Custom) reinstall of RP1210.
- Retry the DAVIE install.
That guide portion also notes disabling antivirus/firewall can help, because it can block the RP1210 VB script.
If that didn't work
No further update fixes were recorded for KF-010 or KF-006. If the update still fails after the steps above, use the contact form or email on this site and tell us your current Davie version and where the install stops. The version matters, especially if you are on an older build.
